About Richard Wigglesworth

Professional Rugby Player & Coach

Richard Wigglesworth is a former England rugby union international, best known for his success as a scrum-half with Sale Sharks, Saracens and Leicester Tigers. Across a long playing career, he won Premiership titles with three different clubs and played more Premiership games than anyone in the history of the competition.

His career was built on control, resilience and an exceptional understanding of the game. As a scrum-half, Richard’s role demanded fast decisions, tactical awareness and the ability to bring structure to high-pressure moments. Those qualities helped him become one of English club rugby’s most consistent performers.

Richard has also carried that experience into coaching. After moving from playing into the coaching environment, he became part of the England men’s set-up and was later selected as an assistant coach for The British & Irish Lions. His journey shows the value of leadership, adaptability and continuing to improve when the next challenge arrives.

We are proud to have Richard as part of our ambassador community. His career as a former England scrum-half, record Premiership appearance holder and international coach reflects the value of sound judgement, disciplined preparation and bringing clarity to high-pressure situations. He represents the leadership and team focus needed to help people perform consistently when it matters most.
