Walking our Way to Productivity

How often do you break from the screen and take a walk outdoors?

A study in Finland examined how lunch-hour activities helped workers to rebound from job stress, suggesting that a short ‘nature hit’ can boost performance. Researchers asked some people to walk for fifteen minutes in the park and others to do indoor relaxation exercises for two weeks in spring and autumn, while a control group continued with lunchbreaks as normal.

The results in the autumn intervention were interesting. “To our surprise, these park walks were as effective and as beneficial as these relaxation exercises,” says Kalevi Korpela, professor of psychology at Finland’s Tampere University. The park-walking group felt more relaxed and detached from work and enjoyed the break more. “The relaxation group experienced only an increase in their feelings of relaxation.” Both groups showed higher levels of concentration and lower strain in the afternoon. Both activities, the study concluded, “may assist employees in replenishing the resources needed to perform well on the job during the working day”.

As we have spoken about before we have our own Active programme and the Get Active Program will soon be available as an ‘off the shelf’ IOS app for any organisation to purchase and provide to their own employees. Read more in our latest blog.

Rocket Sales for Apple iPhone 12

The iPhone 12 has proved one of the most successful series yet for Apple, surpassing 100 million sales in seven months – despite delays and challenges brought on due to the global Covid-19 pandemic. According to Counterpoint Research, they Apple hit the 100 million landmark in April 2021 after launching the series in October 2020 when they released four ready models – the iPhone 12, iPhone 12 Mini, iPhone 12 Pro and the iPhone 12 Pro Max versions. By comparison, it took nine months for the same landmark to be achieved with the previous iPhone 11 series, released in September 2019.

In some respects, the lengthening replacement cycle of the iPhone in general has played its part. Consumers have been waiting longer to upgrade their device. For example, many iPhone 7 or 8 users might have upgraded to the iPhone 12 series, which represents a good upgrade and significant innovation changes. We also note that the improved camera on the iPhone 12 has been a key driver for sales and it takes Apple into the right direction and in line with their competitors.

Rumour has it that when the iPhone 13 is released, the iPhone 11 will be dropped from the current range. Therefore, if you are an iPhone 11 user and you want to continue providing that device to your employees, then please speak to one of our team about reserving current stock. Supply is starting to become more restricted so please do contact us to check supply chains.

Premiership Rugby is Back!

It is that time again for rugby to get underway for a new 2021/2022 season. To kick things off, we sent our VIP customer, England and Saracens number 8 player, Billy Vunipola his new iPhone 12 device.
Simon Matson, CEO of Gallagher’s broking and underwriting businesses in Europe, Middle East & Asia, said: “It’s always a big day when we reveal the first fixtures of a brand new season of Gallagher Premiership Rugby. We now hope to be able to welcome back fans at full capacity in stadiums up and down the country. With their passion, their loyalty and their encouragement, we know it’s the fans that make the game. I know the Gallagher team can’t wait to be back, giving voice to our support on the ground, pitch-side, and in the communities we serve. Here’s to another exhilarating season of Gallagher Premiership Rugby!”

Steve Backley – Celebrating over 20 years as our ambassador

Did you know that Steve Backley OBE has been a company ambassador for Active Digital for two decades? In this newsletter, he shares the story of how we met!

Backley was the first Briton to win medals at three successive Olympic Games, winning bronze in 1992 and silver in 1996 and 2000. Steve is a four time European champion, three times Commonwealth Games winner and a world record breaker on three occasions. At the age of 36, Steve rounded off a great career with 4th place in the Athens Olympics. Although this was his lowest positioning in an Olympic Games, it illustrates the consistency of his performances throughout his competitive life at major championship level.

Here is a personal message from Steve:

“Richard and Jo just reminded me that I have been a company Ambassador for Active Digital for twenty years now; how time flies! This video gives you some insight as to why I enjoy the partnership so much. As a customer for over two decades, looking after all my mobile needs, I thoroughly recommend you give them a call. Stay well. S”
