Our Charity Partner of the Year: Supporting Young Minds Through Sport with The Mintridge Foundation

Every year, we choose a Charity Partner of the Year, not just as a box ticked, but because we believe in the transformative power of collaboration. Our chosen charity, The Mintridge Foundation, is making a real difference in the lives of young people across the UK, and we’re proud to stand beside them.

Why Support Young People’s Mental Health?

The numbers speak for themselves: one in six young people aged 5–16 in the UK now experience a mental health problem. The challenges facing today’s youth, including social media pressure and academic stress are real and rising. Yet, often, young people struggle to find the support they need. That’s why it’s more important than ever to step up and do something about it. By supporting organisations like The Mintridge Foundation, we are investing in proactive, practical, and positive solutions for mental wellbeing.

The Role of Sport and Movement

Physical activity is a powerful tool. It’s not just about fitness, it’s about confidence, resilience, community, and joy. Studies continue to show that regular movement helps reduce symptoms of anxiety and depression, improves mood, and boosts self-esteem.

For young people, sport can be a safe outlet—a place to express themselves, connect with others, and escape daily pressures. But not every child or teen has access to these opportunities. That’s where The Mintridge Foundation comes in.

Who Is The Mintridge Foundation?

Founded in 2015, The Mintridge Foundation is an award-winning charity that harnesses the power of sport to improve the physical and mental health of young people. Their model is simple but impactful: they bring professional athletes into schools and communities to mentor, inspire, and lead.

These athletes aren’t just coaches—they’re role models. They work directly with young people, sharing their own stories of success, struggle, and self-discovery. Whether it’s through school visits, online mentoring, or long-term support programmes, Mintridge offers a lifeline to young people who need a spark of encouragement and a reminder of their potential.

 Why This Partnership Matters

Now in our 5th year of working together, our partnership with The Mintridge Foundation is about more than fundraising; it’s about creating a legacy. By working together, we’re helping bring their work to more schools, more communities, and more young people. We believe that sport has the power to change lives, and with Mintridge, we see that change happening every day. Here are just a few reasons why this partnership matters:

  • Breaking Barriers: Not all children feel confident or comfortable in traditional sports settings. Mintridge’s mentors break down those barriers, meeting young people where they are—physically and emotionally.
  • Encouraging Open Conversations: Having an athlete speak openly about mental health can be a turning point for a young person. It gives permission to be vulnerable and shows that even those at the top of their game face challenges.
  • Creating Role Models: Positive role models are crucial in shaping how young people see themselves. Mintridge mentors embody dedication, resilience, and empathy—traits that leave a lasting impression.
  • Long-Term Impact: The impact of a mentoring session or school visit doesn’t end when the athlete leaves. It ripples through friendships, classrooms, and families—creating healthier, happier communities.

Tonbridge Half Marathon 2025 – Show us your Support

Supporting young people isn’t a one-time effort—it’s an ongoing commitment. And with The Mintridge Foundation, we’re not just investing in programmes—we’re investing in people. As our Charity Partner of the Year, Mintridge is helping us shine a light on the urgent need for youth mental health support, and the incredible potential of sport to deliver it. Together, we can empower the next generation to move more, talk more, and believe more, in themselves and in their futures. This October 2025, five of our Active Digital team are lacing up their trainers to take on the Tonbridge Half Marathon all in support of our amazing charity partner, The Mintridge Foundation, as they celebrate their 10th anniversary. Starting and finishing on Brook Street in Tonbridge, Kent, runners wind through Tonbridge’s historic streets and venture into the scenic Kent countryside.

We’d love your support! Every donation, big or small, makes a real difference.
