In a city as vast and vibrant as London, young people face a unique set of opportunities- but also growing challenges. From economic inequality and lack of access to safe spaces, to the pressures of education, social media, and mental health, the journey to adulthood in the capital isn’t easy for everyone. That’s why the work we do our amazing customer, London Youth, a leading youth charity, is more important than ever.
London Youth is a charity with a long heritage, over 130 years (founded in 1887) focused on strengthening youth organisations across London in order to give young people opportunities, skills, and safe spaces to grow. The charity operates through a network of about 600 youth organisations across London, as well as through its two outdoor residential learning and activity centres. In the 2023‑2024 year, London Youth supported over 710,000 young people across London.
The charity’s two outdoor learning centres, Hindleap Warren in East Sussex and Woodrow High House in Buckinghamshire, offer many young people their first experience outside of the city. These residential trips are more than just holidays; they are life-changing experiences that teach teamwork, resilience, and self-confidence. For many young Londoners, they are the first step toward realising their potential beyond the postcode they grew up in.
But the impact of London Youth is not just anecdotal — it’s measurable. In the last year alone, thousands of young people have taken part in their programmes, with many reporting increased confidence, improved mental health, and a stronger sense of direction. The charity also supports youth workers and volunteers — the unsung heroes of youth development — through training, events, and peer-to-peer support. By strengthening the people and organisations who work directly with youth, London Youth multiplies its impact far beyond what it could do alone.
The London Youth Awards 2025 are a key annual event that celebrates the achievements, drive, and creativity of young people across the capital. These Awards are run by London Youth. In the 2025 Awards, young individuals and groups are nominated across a range of categories: Young Leader of the Year, Volunteer of the Year, Youth Professional of the Year, plus other categories recognising innovation, overcoming adversity, campaigning, and media impact. The nominations are open to youth organisations that are members of London Youth. Identifying and rewarding young people doing outstanding work does not just honour them — it also highlights the importance of youth work across London and the role it plays in social impact.
One of the reasons these Awards matter is that much of youth work happens behind the scenes, often under‑resourced and undervalued. The Awards bring visibility to projects and people who might otherwise go unseen. They inspire others, raise awareness of the challenges young people face, and build momentum for further investment in youth services. London Youth has a long history in this space, so these Awards build on that heritage and help shine a light on the ongoing need.
“The London Youth Awards are a powerful reminder of the extraordinary impact youth work has across our capital. Our flagship event is not just a celebration, it’s a call to champion and invest in the people and organisations shaping brighter futures for young Londoners. To every youth worker, volunteer, young leader, and youth organisation in London, thank you for the life-changing work you do. We’re proud to stand with you, celebrate you, and continue building a stronger, more connected youth sector together. We can’t wait to see this year’s nominations and the inspiring stories you’ll share with us.”
Pauline Daniyan, Chief Executive at London Youth
