Introducing the 5G eSIM from O2 Business
This will enable us to support a whole new range of exciting 5G eSIM capable devices for our customers.
It’s been almost exactly 12 months since Active Digital launched eSIM on O2. Now, we are delighted to introduce 5G eSIM to customers.
Launched at the end of September, the O2 5G eSIM pack alongside the existing 4G eSIM pack we send out to customers today. This will give customers with 5G eSIM capable devices like the Samsung Galaxy S20 5G (and now the new 5G iPhone unveiled on 13th October 2020), the option to switch from 5G plastic sim to a 5G eSIM. It will also enable us to support a whole new range of exciting 5G eSIM capable devices.
5G eSIM allows 5G customers to do all the things with a 5G device that they were able to do with eSIM on 4G devices:
Enable Dual SIM on the latest 5g Smartphone devices
Use one number for business and one for personal calls on the same device
Add a local data plan when you travel abroad
Have separate Voice and Data plans
What makes 5G different
With ultra-low latency, faster speeds and new capabilities, 5G is completely different to anything we’ve seen before. It has the potential to transform the way your business operates, the way you engage and empower your people, and the way you serve your customers.
From remote maintenance of equipment in the field, to accurate monitoring of your workforce and operations, ultra-low latency will enable real-time communication between IoT devices across your business.
Giving power to the people
With much higher speeds than 4G, 5G lets you do everything you can now, but faster.
Enhanced mobile broadband will improve communications between remote workers through seamless HD video conferencing—as well as introducing new possibilities such as 3D holographic calls and augmented, assisted or virtual reality to support, educate and inform your people in exciting new ways.
And with high-capacity connectivity even in the busiest areas, your people will benefit from fast and secure connections for document collaboration, high-speed downloads and more.
5G on O2
O2 is now have 5G in parts of most major UK towns and cities, as well as lots of smaller towns and villages.
To make sure you get 5G where you need it most, we’ll be targeting transport hubs, key business areas and entertainment and sports venues, including The O2 and Twickenham Stadium. We’ll also be working with major UK businesses including Network Rail and Northumbrian Water Group to help build the 5G economy.
