From Slow Rural Broadband to Resilient Business Connectivity: How Active Digital Helped The Shmuseum Stay Connected

Keeping content moving with the right connectivity

For businesses based in rural locations, a reliable internet connection isn’t just about browsing the web—it’s essential for productivity, collaboration and sharing content with customers.

That was the challenge facing automotive content creator Tim Burton (Shmee150),  at The Shmuseum. Located in the countryside, the site’s existing broadband wasn’t always able to keep pace with the demands of creating and uploading high-quality video content.

Active Digital worked with the team to deliver a solution that would provide both exceptional performance and greater resilience.

A smarter connectivity solution

Our engineers installed Starlink, integrating it alongside the site’s existing wired internet connection as a secondary WAN. Rather than replacing the existing service, Starlink works alongside it, providing an additional high-speed connection that improves resilience and ensures the business stays connected when it matters most.

The solution also includes a direct connection into the site’s server infrastructure, creating a seamless network that supports demanding day-to-day operations.

The results speak for themselves.

What was once a slow rural connection is now, in Tim’s words, “insanely fast.”

The improved connectivity means The Shmuseum can confidently upload large files, publish content more efficiently and even produce and upload 4K video without worrying about internet speeds slowing the process down.

Built for businesses that can’t afford downtime

As Richard from Active Digital explains, this is a solution we’re implementing for businesses of all sizes—from small organisations operating in remote locations through to large corporate environments where reliable connectivity is business critical.

Using Starlink as part of a wider connectivity strategy gives businesses the flexibility and resilience they need, particularly where traditional broadband alone may not always provide the performance or reliability required.

Whether it’s supporting cloud applications, video conferencing, large file transfers or content creation, having a resilient network helps businesses continue operating without interruption.

Connectivity designed around your business

Every organisation has different connectivity requirements, which is why we take the time to understand how our customers work before recommending the right solution.

For some, that’s a dedicated leased line. For others, it’s Starlink. Increasingly, we’re helping businesses combine both to create a more resilient network that delivers performance without compromising reliability.

The Shmuseum is a great example of how the right solution can transform the way a business works—turning slow rural broadband into a fast, dependable network that’s ready for whatever comes next.
