PBs, Rain and Pure Determination at the Headcorn Half Marathon

Our Team Take on Headcorn Half Marathon

Sunday 15th February 2026 wasn’t exactly the kind of morning that inspires you to leap out of bed and lace up your racing shoes. With wind whipping across the course and rain coming in sideways, the Headcorn Half Marathon served up a proper winter challenge, the sort that makes you question every life decision that led you to standing on a start line in running shorts.

But despite the brutal conditions, our team showed exactly what we’re made of. Determination, teamwork, and a healthy dose of stubbornness helped produce an incredible set of results, with several of our runners smashing personal bests (PBs) in what can only be described as “character-building” weather.

From the very start, it was clear that the Headcorn Half Marathon was going to be a tough race. The wind hit hard early on, making every exposed stretch feel like running into an invisible wall. The rain didn’t let up either, soaking shoes, kit, and spirits, at least for anyone who wasn’t prepared to embrace the chaos. But if there’s one thing runners know how to do, it’s adapt. Heads went down, shoulders relaxed, and everyone got on with the job.

The Headcorn course is known for being scenic, which was hard to see in the constant rain! Puddles formed quickly, the paths became slick, and the wind turned certain sections into a battle of pure grit. Yet our runners dug deep, proving that PBs aren’t only made in perfect spring sunshine, they’re earned the hard way, in the kind of conditions that make the finish line feel like salvation.

And what a finish line it was.

One by one, our team stormed home with huge smiles (and slightly haunted expressions), crossing the line knowing they’d left everything out there on the course. The best part? The results told the story. Despite the weather doing everything it could to slow things down, our runners delivered a string of personal best performances, showing just how much hard work has been going in behind the scenes over the winter months.

A huge well done to our runners Alex, Mel, Charlotte, Morgan, Rich and Andy, who all put in fantastic performances at the Headcorn Half Marathon. To come away with PBs in those conditions is no small achievement; it’s a real testament to their training, commitment, and mental toughness. Sunday was a reminder that progress isn’t always glamorous. Sometimes it’s messy, cold, and uncomfortable… but that’s where the real breakthroughs happen. Well done all involved!

There was a brilliant ‘Active Digital’ team atmosphere throughout the morning. Whether it was sharing nervous jokes at the start, offering encouragement mid-race, or cheering each other in at the finish, it was one of those events that remind us why running as part of a team is so special. Everyone was out there for their own challenge, but no one was ever running alone.

AI is no longer a “future” conversation- it’s a leadership one.

Many organisations know AI matters, but struggle with where to start, what to prioritise, and how to do it responsibly. That’s exactly why we’ve launched Active Digital AI.

Our latest blog explores how a fractional AI approach can give organisations senior‑level AI leadership and clarity, without the cost or commitment of a full‑time hire.

If you’re exploring AI but want a practical, people‑first way forward, this is for you.

A special mention also goes to our Office Manager, Karen, who braved the rain to support the team from start to finish. While we were busy battling the course, Karen was out there clapping, cheering, and keeping spirits high every step of the way and that kind of support makes a bigger difference than people realise, especially on a day like this.

As the medals were handed out and everyone warmed up afterwards, the sense of achievement was impossible to miss. The Headcorn Half Marathon may have thrown everything at us, wind, rain, and a course that demanded respect, but our runners answered with resilience, heart, and some seriously impressive running.

A huge congratulations to everyone who took part. Sunday was proof that all the training miles, early mornings, and wet midweek runs are paying off. Bring on the next one…hopefully with a little less weather drama!
