Customer Spotlight: Schalk Brits
On the cusp of his retirement, Active Digital's customer spotlight is on Saracens hooker, Schalk Brits. Stephen Jones at The Sunday Times recently referred to Schalk Brits as the most amazing rugby players he had ever seen.
Stephen Jones asked how many players have you seen who can cut the angles so silkily, who puts players through gaps with a pass or surges through himself on to passes, stands back to take high kicks and hardly ever fails to run them back with interest? Or who often stands in the openside flank position to lead the defensive line at rare pace, has a vast range of skills, understands the head-up game better than most fly-halves — and then goes down and hooks in the scrum? He referred this as 'one man making history'.
Schalk Brits, the Saracens hooker originally from KwaZulu Natal is widely regarded as one of the Aviva Premiership’s finest ever imports. He started his rugby education at school playing barefoot in the Western Cape town on Mossel Bay, before moving to Paul Roos Gymnasium, the Stellenbosch school famous for producing the highest number of Springbok rugby players to date, and was a No 8 before he started playing in the front row. Joining the club from his native South Africa where he played regularly for Super Rugby franchise Stormers, his arrival in 2009 brought international experience to bolster the Saracens ranks after he was capped for the Springboks in 2008, winning 10 caps for his country.
Schalk Brits has become a firm favourite at Saracens, with his natural flair and abrasive approach to rugby has earned him many admirers, including the team here at Active Digital and ILG Business. It’s easy to see how he fits in so well to his life in Hertfordshire, making time for everyone he comes across.
Brits has made over 200 appearances at Saracens, and has been an important part of the squad that has won 3 Premiership Rugby titles and 2 Champions Cup titles in an extremely successful period for Saracens, sharing the role at hooker with up and coming England star Jamie George.
Here at Active Digital, we are so humbled to call Sculler (more commonly known to his friends) - a loyal customer. If Saturday’s Aviva Premiership final at Twickenham is to be his last game for Saracens, we really hope to see the team lift the trophy this weekend.
It was a packed room at The Brewery in London on 21st March 2018 for his recent testimonial dinner. An evening to enjoy and reflect on the most stunning of rugby careers. Sculler has an infectious smile that beams warmth into the hearts of many. A true family man, it’s easy to see why Brits is the perfect fit for Saracens.
Last week, Sculler was delighted to collect his iPhone X personally from Richard Groves, Active Digital's Managing Director over a round of golf at Dale Hill Golf Club in Lamberhurst. Taking the personal level of customer experience to a new level. This is the service our Active VIP customers have come to love from the team at Active Digital. Something we have always prided ourselves in serving over the last twenty years.
We know that Sculler will have the premiership trophy firmly in his sights tomorrow. He has been a brilliant player and may his powerful team spirit live on at Saracens.
